About UpSkill Miami

United Way Miami is proud to launch UpSkill Miami, a transformative new fund that invests in workforce development initiatives.

UpSkill Miami fosters strategic collaborations, bringing together underserved populations, training providers and employers in Miami-Dade County. The fund serves to upskill and reskill the local workforce, offering them training, support and employment opportunities in high-demand industries.

By creating a pathway to jobs that provide economic mobility and avenues for career growth, we can profoundly transform the lives of many in our local community.

Baptist Health Programs

Baptist Health began its Allied Health Scholars program in 2022 to offer financial support to students enrolled in critically needed disciplines at accredited academic institutions. Through this collaboration with United Way Miami, Baptist Health will expand its clinical program to continue offering employment opportunities for Miami-Dade County residents.

Miami Dade College has partnered with United Way Miami to provide scholarships for students and future professionals in the South Florida healthcare community. Through this partnership, eligible students will receive FREE tuition, books, fees, uniform and a stipend.

United HomeCare (UHC) is partnering with United Way Miami to offer employment opportunities with free training to qualified applicants for the care of older disabled adults through its Learn & Work Program leading to rewarding careers and a valuable pathway for aspiring caregivers to enter the growing home care industry.

In more than 30 years of operation, The CDL School has proudly trained more than 150,000 individuals to obtain their CDL. Through this partnership with United Way Miami, in a few short weeks, aspiring truckers will now have the opportunity to land careers in the high-demand transportation industry.

Florida Power & Light (FPL) Program

Florida Power & Light (FPL) and United Way Miami are partnering to offer a 6-month Pre-Apprenticeship Program for individuals looking to unlock a career as an Apprentice Line Specialist. This program consists of six months of formal training, including two weeks of on-the-job training experience. This is a great opportunity to become a skilled lineworker with the nation’s leading electric utility company.
