United Way Miami is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of our contributors to the extent possible. We do not sell or provide our contributors’ names or personal information to any other entity, unless required by law or in response to subpoenas or other legal instruments that authorize disclosure. This policy applies to all information received by United Way Miami, both online and offline.

Information collection and use

Categories of personally identifiable information collected by United Way Miami may include, but are not limited to:

  • Contact information, such as name, address, title, employer, email address and phone number
  • Employer information
  • Personal information, such as date of birth and marital status
  • Giving and payment history
  • Demographic information, such as age range and marital status
  • Relationships you may have with United Way Miami, such as events attended or volunteer positions
  • Photographs taken at United Way Miami events or submitted by you for recognition purposes

The information that United Way Miami collects about you may be used for purposes including, but not limited to:

  • Maintaining donor relationships
  • Providing information about the impact of your contribution
  • Inviting you to United Way Miami events and programs
  • Recognizing you for your giving

Website Analytics, Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies for operational, analytical and marketing purposes, as permitted by applicable law. SMS Messaging

By providing your phone number and opting in to receive SMS text messages, you consent to receiving communications from us via SMS. These messages may include information related to our services, events or updates. Standard message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.

You may opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. Upon opting out, you will no longer receive SMS communications, but this will not affect other communications you may receive from us through other channels, such as email.

SMS Privacy
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Website Security

Our website, www.unitedwaymiami.org, uses SHA-2 and 2048-bit encryption to help secure the transfer of potentially sensitive or private information from your web browser to United Way Miami’s systems. When using our contribution forms, your browser will indicate that a secured session has started. You may see a small key or padlock in your browser display or a padlock and the word “Secure” in the address bar. When active, this means information entered is encrypted, or scrambled, sent to United Way Miami, and then decoded. This helps protect your information from unauthorized viewers.
