United Way’s Golden Wishes makes dreams a reality for older adults age 60+ in Miami-Dade County. As Miami-Dade residents are living longer and healthier lives, we are finding new ways to honor, celebrate and maximize contributions for older adults.

white space Meet Kimika and Theresa

National accreditation programs offered by United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education equip early childhood professionals with the skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality early care and education. For teachers like Kimika and Theresa, the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential™ was a unique opportunity to open the door to a field they had long admired.

“When I moved to Miami six years ago, a wise man told me that it was imperative that you get involved in the community here. I joined all the chambers, went to thousands of networking events and this really helped kick start my business. I had always heard of United Way and the great causes they represent; I had just never reached out. In January this year I decided it was my time to give back and the small business initiative was just being rolled out, perfect timing. Since then, we have sponsored a few events, done some volunteering and I even won a car at the annual luncheon. I am a massive fan of United Way and most recently have fast tracked to become a Tocqueville Society member.”
