Learn a new skill and change your future United Way Miami, in partnership with Social Finance has launched the United Way Miami Workforce Project offering education and training designed to give individuals career opportunities and economic mobility. For those that qualify, all upfront costs of training are waived with in-person and remote plans available. This project has been structured as a Pay It Forward Fund to create a sustainable cycle of job training.
Volunteers come together for Annual Back-To-School Drive In preparation for the 2022-23 school year, nearly 100 community volunteers came together to fill 1,000 backpacks with essential school supplies for Miami-Dade County students in need.
Did you know? August 21 is World Senior Citizen’s Day! As a community convener, United Way Miami has facilitated the Older Adult Advocacy Taskforce since 2016. The taskforce seeks to increase the support available to older adults through legislative efforts. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is now: 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline 988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. This new, shorter phone number will make it easier for people to remember and access mental health crisis services.
