white space Continuing to serve those who have served

Since 2016, our United Way has operated United Way Mission United — a single point of entry for veterans to access the help they need, at no cost. We’re making the transition from active duty to civilian life as seamless as possible, with events, workshops and outreach activities to keep empowering veterans, year-round.

white space United for the future

Now more than ever, America must come together around shared values, to build stronger communities and help every person. That’s why our United Way recently partnered with Peter Buffett, musician and philanthropist (and the youngest son of investor Warren Buffett) for a community conversation that engaged more people more deeply in lasting change.

United HomeCare, an impact partner of United Way, is a local nonprofit home health and community care organization that has served the community since 1974. It was originally born as a United Way pilot program, and is now ranked as the largest home health agency in South Florida. United HomeCare’s main goal is to provide care for older adults and disabled adults in the comfort of their own home.

Our community will be stronger when we all commit to focusing on what unites us instead of what divides us. From May 1-10, we are challenging the entire community to engage in acts of connection to build empathy, increase understanding and to refocus on our shared humanity.

ts-member

Sandrell, a single mother, enrolled her daughter Rachel at a young age in one of United Way’s partner agencies, the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida. Rachel’s involvement has helped her prepare for the real world — even before she was able to understand what the real world was.

Jennifer A. Marques
Attorney, Jennifer A. Marques, P.A.

"This year I became a mother to a beautiful baby girl named Victoria. While it is not easy to balance work, family and community service, I have told myself that in order for me to teach my daughter about kindness, compassion and the ability to help others, I must lead by example. I am grateful United Way gives me the opportunity to serve our community, especially the little ones in our community, and also inculcate to Victoria she has the power and responsibility to make a difference."
