Tax season is the time to strengthen working families

February is American Heart Health Month
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States for both men and women. Fortunately, it is also one of the most preventable. Meet Mary
At 91 years old, Mary refuses to “feel invisible.” For the past 18 years, Mary wakes up early every morning and proudly goes to work at Southwest Social Services, a United Way funded program that helps low-income, older adults receive nutritious meals, participate in exercise and educational classes and most importantly, keep their social calendar filled with lots of exciting fiestas and events.
Like many other older adults in our community, Mary is determined to live a fulfilling, independent life and age with a little dignity…and a lot of fun!
Thank you Mary for helping us fight for a stronger Miami and never, ever quitting.

Contributor Spotlight
Belen Cristino
Founder of One to One 11 and Amba Inspirational Spaces
"We cannot do anything alone. Every action we take, whether we are aware or not, is impacting others. If we are humbly able to improve the living conditions of children and the elderly, leading them towards independence and healthy habits, we will in turn, improve the life of everyone in our community including parents, caretakers, co-workers, colleagues, and ourselves.
If you want to teach your children and loved ones about how to grow responsibly in a community, there is nothing more effective than showing them your example by serving."
