Help us shape the future of veteran services in Miami
United Way Miami MISSION UNITED and the FIU Jorge M. Pérez Metropolitan Center are conducting a survey to assess the needs of the veteran population in Miami-Dade County. By taking this survey, veterans will share their experiences and help shape the future of veteran services in Miami. If you're not a veteran, please consider sharing this survey with someone who is. All responses will remain anonymous and confidential.
Volunteers committed to #GiveBackandConnect
Although National Volunteer Month has come to a close, the impact we made in our community continues to inspire us. Throughout April, volunteers dedicated their time to various service projects, culminating in over 100 volunteers from across Miami-Dade uniting to celebrate VolunteerMiami Day and Earth Day in partnership with Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces. Ready to see our impact in action?
Did you know? A $500 donation to United Way Miami can provide up to a week of emergency shelter for a veteran and their family. Learn more about United Way MISSION UNITED’s efforts to serve those who have served our country.
Hurricane season is approaching – are you ready?
With hurricane season just around the corner, it's essential to start planning and preparing for potential storms. As Miami-Dade County residents, we all know how devastating the impact of a hurricane can be, which is why United Way Miami is here to help you get ready. United Way is Miami-Dade's official volunteer and donation arm when our community faces a natural disaster or emergency. Let's work together for a more resilient community.
Emma Rodriguez
Meet Emma Rodriguez, an exceptional young volunteer who embraces the value of giving back and making a positive impact in her community.
On April 22, 2023, United Way Miami celebrated VolunteerMiami Day by partnering with Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces to restore Kendall Indian Hammocks Park in honor of Earth Day. Alongside 100 dedicated volunteers, Emma spent the morning rejuvenating the tropical hardwood hammock, pulling invasive plants and vines, and planting native shrubs and trees. Determined to contribute wholeheartedly, Emma took it upon herself to plant seven trees. When asked why seven, she explained that she was seven years old and learned that seven also means completion.
Emma's impact didn't end there. She also participated in a volunteer kit-packing project, where she and fellow volunteers assembled over 150 hygiene kits filled with essential items for deserving community partners.
We want to thank Emma for her hard work and exceptional generosity. She exemplifies the true meaning of caring for others, inspiring Miami to become a stronger, more equitable community.
Thank you, Emma, for being an inspiration to us all.
