For this month’s Partner Spotlight, we catch up with SBU Emotion
Tell us about your Small Business and its core mission?
Inspired by the journeys and needs of her patients in her private practice, Dr. Maria Elena Collazo, a clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience, created the Emotion Health Program, consisting of two fundamental pillars:
- Emotion Health App – a 24/7 digital wellness space packed with tools grounded on positive psychology and neuroscience, which encourages the practice of healthy habits to guide our emotions daily, helping rewire our brain for a more balanced and fulfilling life.
- Emotion Health Experiences – consisting of talks, workshops and retreats, these experiences provide practical tools and insights that support long term well-being, resilience and personal fulfillment by helping high performing professionals in the prevention of burnout.
Together, they are design to empower people with continuous tools, knowledge, practices and experiences for healing, growth and emotional well-being.
Why is philanthropy and giving back important to your Small Business?
Giving back is the core of the Emotion Health Program. In 2021, during the pandemic, Dr. Collazo realized weekly sessions weren’t enough for many people. Stress was daily; training the brain needed to be daily, too. This is what inspired her to create a digital tool that would make emotional well-being accessible to everyone, anytime, anywhere, allowing her to extend her impact to our community beyond the therapy room.
In addition, concerned about the rising numbers of high-performing professionals experiencing burnout, the Emotion Health Experiences were born. Supporting our community through mental health education, wellness initiatives and meaningful partnerships reflects our commitment to helping people build healthier, more connected and resilient lives.
What does “community” mean to your Small Business?
Our Emotion Health Program is all about accompanying you, steering you through a mindful and personal voyage of self-discovery, because we understand that healing not only happens from within, but also through meaningful relationships. That’s why community means connection and support, as we help one another thrive and remind each other that we don’t have to do it alone.
Which of our four pillars—Health & Wellbeing, Education, Resilient Communities, or Economic Mobility—aligns most with your company?
Our work aligns most closely with United Way Miami’s Health & Wellbeing pillar, as we are dedicated to advancing emotional wellness through accessible mental health education, tools and experiences. By equipping individuals with practical resources to manage stress, build resilience and strengthen their overall well-being, we help foster healthier people and, in turn, healthier communities.
How do you involve your employees in your Small Business philanthropic initiatives?
At our Emotion Health Program, philanthropy is the driving force behind everything we’re inspired to do. We encourage our team to participate in community wellness initiatives, educational events and create partnerships that promote mental health and emotional well-being. By contributing their expertise, time and passion, our team helps extend our mission beyond our services and into the communities we serve, with the sole purpose of creating meaningful and lasting impact.
