Giving Tuesday (11/30/21)

This past year, we partnered with Miami Herald/el Nuevo Herald and crowdfunded over $8,000 to help purchase and create winter care packages for 500+ students enrolled in our Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership program. Kits included sweaters/hoodies, sneakers, socks and lip balm to keep kids warm on chilly winter mornings.

AMERANT BANK 5K coming this spring

The AMERANT BANK 5K benefiting United Way Miami will take place this spring in the beautiful city of Coral Gables. The race starts and ends at the City of Coral Gables Historic City Hall with a festive post-race party at Merrick Park across the street. A fun-filled day awaits runners, walkers, athletes, families and wellness enthusiasts.

Celebrating 15 years of championing early childhood care and education

United Way Miami’s Center for Excellence in Early Education celebrates 15 years of elevating the quality of early care and education. Since its inception, the program has directly impacted 56,422 young children, improved the skills of 36,077 educators, provided quality enhancement services to 3,005 early education programs, and invested in more than $1.2 million early childhood programs.

“In my first year at Johnson & Wales University, I first found out and started working for United Way Miami and VeritageMiami at their Interactive Dinner with Giorgio Rapicavoli in February of 2020. It was an amazing experience where the chef, staff, and event planners were respectful and gregarious, giving me this opportunity to show off my expertise as a young chef for the great deed of helping the Miami community. This event helped me overcome a traumatic experience I had at another event, the week prior, where I was discriminated against and mistreated by another chef and the people in charge. Knowing that there are good people in this company that works to encourage others in the hospitality industry, I always sent messages on their Instagram page to see if there were more Culinary events I can be of assistance, such as the Interactive Dinner with Chef Adrienne Calvo and the Craft Beer Tasting at Wynwood Walls. Not just volunteering in general, I also helped to promote their events and shared my experiences on my social media to get VeritageMiami more volunteers in the future, and expressed their greatest achievements on how professional they are when it comes to managing these elite events. I've always shown my loyalty to them and made sure I lived up to my potential to make their events successful, and promised to be available whenever they needed me or to use my platform for any more of their promotions.”
