United Way Miami welcomes Interim President and CEO Joe Zubizarreta Long-time United Way board member and volunteer, Joe Zubizarreta joins us as Interim President and CEO of United Way Miami. In his role, Joe is committed to supporting and standing by the dedicated staff and volunteers at United Way Miami in its mission to build a thriving and equitable community where all people have access to quality education and the opportunity to lead healthy and financially secure lives.

Sharing hope for the Holidays Giving back comes in many shapes and forms, especially during the holiday season. Shopping online or sending a holiday greeting can help make an impact for those in our community who need it most.
Thank you for supporting our Giving Tuesday efforts With your support (92 individual donations), we were able to raise $8,327 for children and families in our community. The funds are providing local children from low-income areas with cold weather essentials like hoodies or sweaters, sneakers, socks, and lip balm. These basic essential kits will be packed by volunteers on December 14th and will be on their way to those that need it most. A matching grant from the Jimmy and Janie Tate supported the effort.
United Way disburses last of relief funds In partnership with Miami-Dade County, United Way completes the distribution of much-needed funds to struggling families. United Way Miami responds to evolving community needs with expanded focus and name After 97 years serving Miami, and with an eye toward its upcoming centennial, our United Way of Miami-Dade changed its name to United Way Miami. Inspire305 and Girls Inc. give back with a garden day Inspire305 powered by United Way Miami and Girls Inc. of Greater Miami came together at a distance to give back at Santa Clara Elementary. Over the course of two shifts, volunteers revitalized a school garden and outdoor classroom. Ed Ansin: Celebrating his life and legacy United Way Miami, United Way of Broward and United way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley – three United Ways touched by Ed Ansin’s generosity – gathered to celebrate his life and dedicate a tree in his memory. Volunteers committed to giving back United Way Miami brought together more than 200 volunteers committed to giving back to the community throughout service projects during National Volunteer Week. Meet Lakisha When the pandemic hit, Lakisha and her husband, parents to a toddler with a new baby on the way, were met with unforeseen challenges. A high-risk pregnancy meant having to leave her job and potentially losing the care for her child. Help someone who’s struggling today Today. Change someone’s tomorrow. United Way Miami believes everyone should have access to quality education and the opportunity to lead healthy and financially secure lives in a thriving and equitable community. Let’s build a stronger Miami, together. COVID-19 Impact Survey Report With more than half of Miami-Dade households (54%) or approximately 485,000 families already struggling to get by, the impact of the COVID-19 crisis had devastating results. In a March 2021 survey, 3,120 of these households (and 1,735 households who earn above the ALICE Threshold) share what life has been like for them during this time of profound uncertainty. Leaders Day of Action brings together more than a hundred volunteers United Way Miami giving communities partnered with Health in the Hood over a span of two shifts to give back to our community. Volunteers and their families had the opportunity to revitalize a community space that will allow neighboring families to gather together and enjoy.
