Next-Gen Philanthropist Award: Marcel G. Laniado

Marcel G. Laniado serves as a banker at the J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Miami, where he has supported clients and the South Florida community for more than 15 years. Throughout his career, Marcel has demonstrated a deep commitment to volunteerism and civic engagement. Inspired at an early age by his father—a fellow banker—he learned that the strength of a financial institution is inseparable from the strength of the community it serves.

Marcel’s involvement with United Way Miami began in 2012 as a volunteer and quickly grew through his leadership within the Young Leaders Society. He served on its executive committee for more than five years and later as co-chair for two years, helping advance engagement and philanthropic support among emerging community leaders. In recognition of his dedication and impact, Marcel was invited to join the United Way Miami Board of Directors, first in an ex-officio capacity and later as an official board member. For the 2025–2026 term, he serves as Treasurer, supporting the organization’s financial stewardship and operational effectiveness.

In addition to his work with United Way Miami, Marcel has played a significant role in advancing volunteerism within JPMorgan Chase. Since 2013, he has been actively involved with the Miami Volunteer Leadership Chapter, holding leadership roles including Communications Chair and Co-Chair from 2019 through 2024. He currently serves as Regional Chair for the Southeast United States, helping guide more than 15 Volunteer Leadership Chapters and mobilizing thousands of employees in support of local nonprofit partners.

Marcel also supports youth mentorship through Big Brothers Big Sisters and contributes to Niños Con Futuro, an Ecuadorian-based nonprofit providing educational resources for children in need. Guided by collaboration, accountability and measurable impact, Marcel remains dedicated to strengthening Miami, the city he proudly calls home.
