United Way of Miami-Dade is hosting two social media contests on Twitter and Instagram for M-DCPS schools. The contests will start at 7:00 am on Oct. 17 – 5:00 pm on Oct. 28, 2016. Up to six winning schools will each receive a $250 gift card.
- Each school must follow @UnitedWayMiami and @MDCPS on Twitter; also follow @UnitedWayMiami and @MiamiSchools on Instagram.
- The first contest is for administrators, teachers and staff. Using the school’s Twitter account, post a carpool karaoke (should not be driving when recording it). The video would entail a quick conversation about building a Stronger Miami and then a song about being empowered. When the video is posted, it must tag both @UnitedWayMiami and @MDCPS and must include both hashtags #MDCPSLivesUnited and #StrongerMiami. Twitter allows videos of up to 2:20.
- The second contest is for students. Using the school’s Instagram account, work with teachers to create a gif, a Bitmoji, a video, a Boomerang video, or a music video to share how your school is building a #StrongerMiami. When the image or video is posted, it must tag both @UnitedWayMiami and @MiamiSchools and must include both hashtags #MDCPSLivesUnited and #StrongerMiami. Instagram allows videos of up to 1:00.
- The school whose post has the most engagement on Twitter and on Instagram will receive a $250 gift card.
- There will be one elementary school winner, one middle school or K-8 center winner, and one senior high school winner for each contest (up to six winning schools).
- The photos and videos must follow student conduct guidelines.
- Schools may invite their community to get involved including, but not limited to parents, teachers, staff, administrators, students, etc.
- All posts and engagement must happen on Twitter and Instagram between 7 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2016 through 5 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2016.
- United Way and M-DCPS will review all postings the week of Oct. 31, 2016 and winners will be announced on Nov. 7, 2016.
