UNITED WAY MIAMI ANNOUNCES 2021-2022 ANNUAL CAMPAIGN CO-CHAIRS AND CABINET

Alex Adams and Maria Mas Blet lead the efforts to help someone who’s struggling today

MIAMI, FL (October 11, 2021) – Co-chairing the 2021-2022 United Way Miami annual campaign are Alex Adams and Maria Mas Blet, dedicated volunteers and longstanding supporters. As we commemorate 97 years of empowering the most vulnerable in our community, we are rolling out the annual campaign both in-person and virtually. Every year, the campaign invites over 250 workplaces and their employees, and thousands of individual contributors to build a stronger Miami, together. The annual campaign is the driving force that allows United Way to respond to our community’s most complex needs that have been exacerbated by the pandemic. It sustains all of our work, including our portfolio of direct services as well as financial support for nearly 100 programs and initiatives focused on improving equitable access to quality education, financial security and health.

“Our neighbors continue to face hardships that demand our immediate attention. Our annual campaign brings together people and resources committed to building a thriving community and helps us set the groundwork for a more equitable future,” Maria C. Alonso, president and CEO, United Way Miami, said. “We are grateful for dedicated leaders like Alex and Maria, and our entire campaign cabinet, who help mobilize their peers and give their time and talent to ensure that everyone in our community has the quality of life they deserve.”

Alex Adams is the President of the South Florida Region for the Wealth Management business of Northern Trust. Alex’s involvement in the community extends beyond his role at Northern Trust to a range of community organizations. His current board memberships include Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, The Miami-Dade Beacon Council and Ronald McDonald House Charities. He is also member of the University of Miami’s President’s Council and the Florida Bankers Association, Government Relations Council. Maria Mas Blet is a fiduciary advisory specialist for Wells Fargo Private Bank and specializes in client’s custom wealth plans. She is passionate about her extensive involvement in the United Way, both locally and worldwide. She serves on the alumni board of her alma mater, Barry University, and has received the In The Company of Women “Community Spirit Award” from Miami-Dade County as well as the Influential Business Woman of the Year Award from the South Florida Business Journal.

Adams and Blet have assembled a campaign cabinet of volunteer leaders who will guide our community to another year of improving the quality of life for Miami-Dade families. They work closely with staff to engage and inspire business, faith groups, government, labor unions, nonprofits and everyday citizens to building a better community.
