Trusted nonprofits collaborated to offer expert free tax prep services to residents of Miami-Dade
Branches, City of Miami, City of Miami-Beach and United Way of Miami-Dade hosted a Super Saturday Tax Day to help residents prepare and file their taxes, and also offer year-round financial capability resources. In one day, the resource event helped the community save nearly $13,000 in fees and receive $55,858 in refunds.
The local organizations are part of Miami Tax Pros, formerly known as the Miami-Dade VITA Coalition, which filed more than 12,000 tax returns, saving Miami-Dade residents more than $3.2 million in tax preparation fees and ensuring refunds of more than $13 million, including nearly $4.9 million in Earned Income Tax Credits, in 2019.
Branches coordinates Miami Tax Pros throughout Miami-Dade County, ensuring 500 volunteers are trained and IRS-certified and more than 50 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance VITA sites are ready to prepare and file tax returns this tax season.
Deadline to file taxes is April 15. To learn more about the free tax prep services available or schedule an appointment to file taxes, residents should visit MiamiTaxPros.com or call 2-1-1.
