Sip, sizzle and mix for a cause with Back of the House Series

United Way of Miami-Dade partners with members of South Florida’s hard-hit hospitality industry for the good of the community

Back of the House: where the magic happens in a restaurant or bar that creates a one-of-a-kind experience for guests in the front of the house.

United Way of Miami-Dade introduces The Back of the House, a star-studded three event virtual series where guests will go on an intimate and enjoyable experience from the comforts of their homes. James Beard Award-winning wine and food journalist, educator and VeritageMiami director, Lyn Farmer, serves as host and invites the who’s who in hospitality to bond over wine, food and sensations. All proceeds from The Back of the House benefit United Way’s work in education, financial stability and health.

Back of the House with chef Michael Schwartz:

James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Schwartz kicks off the series with a virtual cooking demonstration where guests will follow along as they prepare a three-course dinner for two, curated by Michael himself. With good food, goes good wine. One of South Florida’s top sommeliers and Michael’s personal beverage director Amanda Fraga will curate optional wine pairings for the dinner. Meal kits will be provided along with wine options.

Back of the House with winemaker Bruce Neyers:

Pop some corks and pour yourself a glass of wine with one of America’s most entertaining winemakers, Bruce Neyers. The virtual event brings Bruce, his wife Barbara and Back of the House host Lyn to your home with a carefully crafted package of three wines for guests to try. During the wine tasting, learn about the philosophy behind the creation of the wines and how Bruce and Barbara bridge the Old and New worlds to create some of the most delicious wines.

Back of the House holiday cocktail celebration with Gabe Urrutia:

To close out the series, Back of the House brings expert mixologist Gabe Urrutia to mix up cocktails just in time for the holiday season. Virtually, Gabe will be behind the bar for an hour-long workshop where guests will survey a classic cocktail, a new drink creation from Gabe himself and learn how to make an easy holiday punch, among other drinks.

Whether you bring the heat in the kitchen, pour a glass of wine or mix-up drinks with a twist, The Back of the House aims to provide guests with unique virtual experiences all for a good cause. You can learn more about The Back of the House here.
