Indra Nooyi of PepsiCo to headline the 18th Annual United Way Women United Breakfast

1,000 women will unite in the fight for education, financial stability and health


Indra Nooyi, former chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, will be the keynote speaker at United Way of Miami-Dade’s 18th Annual Women United Breakfast on February 22, 2019 at the Watsco Center at the University of Miami. Mother and daughter duo, Alicia Cervera Lamadrid and Alicia Lamadrid Paysse, will serve as co-chairs of the exclusive breakfast, considered the crown jewel of events for local influential women business executives, community leaders and philanthropists.

From 2006 to 2018, Nooyi served as CEO and chief architect of Performance with Purpose, PepsiCo’s pledge to do what’s right for the business by being responsive to the needs of the world around us. Under her leadership, PepsiCo focused on delivering sustained growth by making more nutritious products, limiting its environmental footprint and protecting the planet, and empowering its associates and people in the communities PepsiCo served. She has been consistently ranked among the world’s most powerful women by Forbes and Fortune magazines.

As former chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, and a wife and mother of two, Nooyi is the epitome of success. During her 20-year tenure at PepsiCo, Nooyi directed the company’s global strategy, and led its restructuring to diversify its restaurants into the successful YUM! Brands, Inc. She also led the acquisition of Tropicana and the merger with Quaker Oats that brought the vital Quaker and Gatorade businesses to PepsiCo, the merger with PepsiCo’s anchor bottlers, and the acquisition of Wimm-Bill-Dann, the largest international acquisition in PepsiCo’s history. Before joining PepsiCo, Nooyi held corporate strategy positions at Asea Brown Boveri, Motorola and The Boston Consulting Group. She serves on the boards of Schlumberger Limited, The Consumer Goods Forum, Catalyst, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Tsinghua University. She is also a member of the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum and the Academy of Arts & Sciences. Nooyi holds a bachelor’s degree from Madras Christian College, a master’s degree in business administration from the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta and a master’s degree in public and private management from Yale University.

Alicia Cervera Lamadrid is managing partner and principal at Cervera Real Estate, a South Florida based family owned and operated real estate company. She has sold luxury high-rise condominiums across the region, helping revitalize areas including Brickell, downtown Miami, Edgewater and Miami Beach’s South of Fifth neighborhood. In addition to serving on the United Way board and as a member the Tocqueville Society and Women United, she is honorary chair of the Master Broker’s Forum and sits on the boards of the Miami Association of Realtors, Miami Downtown Development Authority and University of Miami’s MRED+U. Cervera Lamadrid is a graduate of the University of Miami, where she served as the first Cuban sophomore student government president.

Alicia Lamadrid Paysse is a director for the Development Sales Division at Cervera Real Estate, and she specializes in sales strategies for condominiums and pre-construction properties in Brickell, downtown Miami and Miami Beach. Lamadrid Paysse works with sales managers, developers, architects and other development team members to execute sales strategies from launch through closings. She previously sat on the Young Patrons Board at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, Young Professionals Network Board for the Miami Association of Realtors and United Way Young Leaders Build Your Own Brunch Host Committee. In addition to her current role as a member of United Way Women United and United Way Young Leaders, Lamadrid Paysse sits on the board of Hogar Clinica San Juan De Dios and the United Way Education Impact Council. She holds a bachelor’s degree in real estate and construction management from the University of Denver.

The breakfast is exclusive to members of United Way Women United. Led by Chair Cathy Alexander and Vice-Chair Soledad Picon, Women United represents a dynamic group of 2,700 women who are committed to fighting for a stronger Miami through philanthropy, advocacy and volunteerism. Each member makes an annual gift of $1,000 or more to support United Way’s work in the areas of education, financial stability and health.
