Brief overview of the CI Blueprint OPT 2
In 1924, less than 30 years after the city’s incorporation, a group of Miamians founded what was then called Miami Community Chest and would become United Way Miami. During a three-day campaign, the founders rallied the community to raise $136,095 in support of 12 local agencies. Two years later, Community Chest mobilized 25,000 workers to respond in the wake of the Category 4 1926 Hurricane. A community leader in philanthropy, volunteerism and service was born.
