Help shape our future

The 2020 Census is much more than just a head count. It also gives you an opportunity to shape the future for you, your family and our community.

From 1-day-old to over 100 years old, everyone counts.

The 2020 Census counts every person living in the United States on April 1 – no matter where they are from, why they are here and whether or not they are documented. This includes temporary workers, international students and workers on assignment from overseas.

Data collected through the census informs the allocation of more than $675 billion in federal funding to states and communities each year for programs that support education, housing, health facilities, transportation, emergency services, food assistance and more. It also helps determine where to build new schools, hospitals and businesses as well as how many representatives serve each state in Congress.

By responding to the 2020 Census and counting every person in your home, you will influence how much is invested in our community. The once-a-decade population count serves as the basis for distributing federal assistance to early education and health programs, including Head Start and Early Head Start, school meal programs, Medicaid, special education grants and other health care assistance programs.

Join us to spread the word on the importance of the 2020 Census and help ensure that families and the community at large receive the resources they need.

April 1, 2020 is Census day! Most households will receive an invitation to participate in the census via U.S. mail. You will have three options to respond: online, by phone or by mail.
