Small Business Spotlight

For this month’s Small Business Spotlight, we catch up with The Alchemy Firm.

1. Tell us about your business; and what is your business philosophy? The Alchemy Firm helps startups and growing companies define their go-to-market strategy and implement the right marketing solutions to get found. We work alongside our clients as a single team with a shared drive to outperform the competition and achieve positive change. When our clients grow, we grow. Our 14-member team is comprised of seasoned leaders with expertise in digital marketing, content, and design. We continually challenge ourselves to remain at the forefront of our field, making us your partner of choice when it matters most.

Our client portfolio spans multiple industries including healthtech, fintech, Al, manufacturing and logistics. We have helped startups grow from early funding through successful multi-million dollar exits, and have guided established multi-generational companies to make successful digital pivots. Our broad experience from global boardrooms to the most nimble of ventures affords us a unique perspective. Our marketing strategies are creative and exciting yet grounded in the reality of proven processes and structures that stand the test of time.

Whether you’re a startup seeking a fractional marketing team to drive market growth and guide your organization from funding through an exit, or if you’re a more established company eyeing the changing horizon and seeking guidance, we’re ready to get to work!

2. Why are you passionate about your commitment to United Way? Through our sister company ZenChange Marketing, we have been actively involved in giving in the South Florida community for the past 8 years, partnering with organizations such as Prospera, CIC Miami, and Chapman. We feel fortunate that our business has grown during the pandemic, yet we worked with many business owners who were not as fortunate. We believe it is our responsibility as successful leaders to invest in Miami, and particularly in the self-sufficiency, economic growth, and employment that small businesses drive. United Way provides a level of structure, organization, and focus we believe is unparalleled in directing resources where they will be most impactful.

3. How did your business get started? We were founded by Diane Moura, a passionate executive business consultant with over 30 years of global/business experience advising 30 of the Fortune 500 and hundreds of small businesses and startups on their vision mission, business strategy, processes, and marketing. Following several years of functioning as the outsourced marketing department and fractional CMO for tech startups and mature, family-owned businesses engaged in a digital pivot, we recognized the need to spin off a marketing advisory and execution firm focused on this market. Alchemy is the process of combining just the right elements to achieve transformation and that is what we’re all about.

4. What is a lesson you have learned? As a founder, I have learned that the best gift you can give your business is time. A business typically fails because it runs out of money. Most businesses will make multiple mini pivots on their way to success as they ebb and flow with the market, react to new opportunities, and shift away from opportunities that didn’t quite pan out. By making sure your business has a strong cash cushion to endure the unexpected, you’re giving it the opportunity to pivot and succeed.

5. What’s your favorite quote? “The richest people in the world look for and build networks. Everyone else looks for a job.” Robert Kiyosaki.
