Small Business Spotlight

For this month’s Small Business Spotlight, we catch up with Ivan Mladenovic, President & CEO of Preemo.

1. Tell us about your business; and what is your business philosophy?

Preemo is a Managed IT Company, focused on helping businesses in South Florida leverage technology to improve efficiency, increase profitability, and to be at the forefront of their industry in technology adoption. Our philosophy is to deliver “fanatical IT support”, so that each company we provide services to has the same, exceptional client experience. Our business support 100+ businesses in South Florida, focusing on legal, medical, finance, and manufacturing/distribution verticals.

2. Why are you passionate about your commitment to United Way?

United Way focuses on causes that are important to me, and it allows a central, organized way for me to contribute to my community (both in time and money), and know that my efforts are being maximized. I appreciate the level of professionalism with which the organization operates, and it has been a great place for me to meet business leaders in our community, as well as develop great friendships.

3. How did your business get started?

I started Preemo in 2009 in my kitchen, after losing a well paying job as an IT Director. Preemo first evolved as a retail, B2C business, providing computer and phone repair services to walk-in customer. That part of the business was rebranded as “TechBar” and Preemo diverged into exclusively focusing on IT for businesses. We’ll be celebrating our 10 year anniversary this year.

4. What is a lesson learned?

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is perseverance. The nature of starting and growing a small business is tough, at times, and the emotional rollercoaster can easily discourage even the most thick skinned entrepreneur. With patience, our business has matured tremendously, and as our team grows and takes ownership of their roles, the business evolves in way even I had not imagine. While we appreciate this evolution, we remain humble, and always strive to be better, faster, and more agile.

5. What’s your favorite quote?

“Work hard in silence. Let success be your noise.”
