Celebrate a global day of giving with Giving Tuesday

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration, celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (November 27). On this Giving Tuesday, we’re dedicating our efforts to improve the lives of older adults in our community through programs – like Golden Wishes – because older adults deserve to be celebrated for their accomplishments and sacrifices.

Why United Way of Miami-Dade?

We double the impact of your giving – Through matching grants, corporate, in-kind gifts and more, your gift goes further. This Giving Tuesday, the first $10,000 in gifts will be matched dollar for dollar.*

Your dollars stay local – Your gift stays in your community.

You’re in control – Volunteers like you examine the needs in our community and determine the most effective solutions.

Why Golden Wishes?

Miami-Dade is home to the largest number of older adults in the state of Florida with more than 500,000 people over the age of 60. There are more households headed by people who are 65+ here than any other county in Florida – and 62 percent of those families are living in or on the edge of poverty.

Through Golden Wishes, a United Way program, we help fulfill long-held dreams by granting special wishes for older adults living on limited fixed income.

Every wish is an opportunity to change the narrative of aging. At any age, older adults can overcome obstacles, experience new things and play invaluable roles within families, among peers and for our community.

We fight to help older adults stay healthy, independent and strong.
