United Way of Miami-Dade Women’s Leadership taps Iliana Castillo-Frick as 2016-2017 chair

Yearly, the 2,000-member group raises $4.5 million to strengthen families

United Way of Miami-Dade announces Iliana Castillo-Frick as the new chair for Women’s Leadership, a dynamic group of 2,000 women, who are committed to making families stronger and more resilient through giving, advocating and volunteering. These women come from diverse backgrounds and industries, yet are like-minded in supporting education, advocating for better policies that affect families and giving of their time to the community.

Castillo-Frick will lead a 48-member executive council that shapes the direction of the group, and is charged with: engaging current members in a series of networking activities that promote personal and professional growth; elevating the group’s impact through fundraising and volunteer projects; and growing the overall group.

As the vice provost for Human Resources at Miami Dade College, Castillo-Frick is responsible for the activities of the Human Resources Division. Over a span of over 20 years, she has held numerous senior level human resources positions in the financial industry.

Castillo-Frick is actively involved in the local community and serves on several boards. In 2005, she was a charter member of Miami-Dade County’s Business Leadership Network (BLN), and later served as president from 2011-2014. She is a long-standing member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and the Greater Miami Society for Human Resources Management (GMSHRM). Since 2010, Castillo-Frick has been a member of United Way Women’s Leadership.

Through her involvement, Castillo-Frick has been honored with the HR Florida Council President of the Year Award, the GMSHRM Lifetime Achievement Award, the BLN Board Member of the Year Award and the 2012 Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce HR Executive of the Year Award. Most recently, Castillo-Frick was the 2015 Florida State College System – HR Council Nevis Herrington HR Excellence Award recipient.

As an alumna of Florida International University, Castillo-Frick received her bachelor’s degrees in French and hospitality management and an associate degree from Miami Dade College. She was a member of Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Leadership Miami Class of 1998. Castillo-Frick resides in Coral Gables with her husband.
