Where to make your gift
Relief organizations working in Haiti have asked for monetary donations at this time. United Way of Miami-Dade and The Miami Herald/el Nuevo Herald have activated Operation Helping Hands to collect donations that will provide relief to those devastated by the catastrophic earthquake. We urge you to take caution in making cash donations to organizations with which you are not familiar.
Tax break incentive
In an effort to encourage Americans to give generously to help victims of the massive earthquake in Haiti, Congress passed a new law that enables people to deduct donations made before March 1, 2010 on their 2009 tax returns. Click here for full details.

What to donate
At this time, officials are asking that donated items be limited to nonperishable food, water, gloves of all types, surgical masks and camping tents. Miami-Dade collections are being limited to only the specified items, not clothing or other goods.

Where to donate: Drop-off locations
All Miami-Dade County police and fire stations, as well as libraries, will serve as drop off sites for the collection of much needed supplies to send to the people of Haiti.

All City of Miami and Miami Dade County Fire Stations and Libraries - For more detailed information on drop off sites, residents can call 3-1-1 or go to http://www.miamidade.gov/.
City of Coral Gables - The City is coordinating relief efforts with Miami-Dade County. The Coral Gables branch of the Miami-Dade Public Library System, 3443 Segovia Street, is also an active drop off site. You can take your donations to any of the following locations:
