Our vision: All children will have access to quality early education so they can reach their full potential in school and in life.
Our mission: To elevate the quality of early care and education in Miami-Dade and beyond by serving as a model of best practices in early education and care.
The United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education will provide a place where:
- children begin their lifetime of learning and success;
- teachers learn how best to teach;
- parents have the opportunity to develop better parenting skills;
- community centers can look to model and emulate best practices;
- partnerships are built and a spirit of collaboration among those involved in early care and education continues to grow.
The Center's components:
- Resource library and training center - designed to give parents, educators, early childhood operators and others an opportunity to study best practices in early education
Business learning center - a place for current and prospective early child care providers and others in the business community (including CEO’s and HR directors) to receive information and resources on the importance and value of quality early care and education (ECE).
- Research center - a place for higher education and research institutions to develop and implement best-practice early education curricula and environments. The Center will study and measure outcomes involving children, teachers, and families.
- Demonstration school - The 12,495-square-foot Demonstration School houses 140 children ages six weeks to 5 years of age, and will showcase the best practices in early childhood education.
